Warham is situated less than 3 miles to the glorious North Norfolk coast at Wells Next The Sea, 4 miles from Holkham and 5 miles from the stunning nature reserve at Blakeney.
The village is close to Binham, famous for its Benedictine Priory and to the medieval pilgrimage site of Little Walsingham. At Wells-next-the-Sea you can fish for crabs, catch the narrow-gauge steam train to the beach, play cricket on the beach or build sandcastles.
The Norfolk Coast Path & Peddars Way runs through Warham with a stunning section of the walk through 'Warham Greens' marshes to either Morston or Stiffkey.
Chapel Cottage is lucky enough to be only a few hundred yards from The Warham Horseshoes which is a gastro pub. serving food throughout the week and commands 4.5 stars for its great menu offering Norfolk ales and traditional home-made food. There is also The Carpenters Arms in Wighton which makes for a great walk to lunch or dinner. Of course Wells itself also has much to offer and is only a 5 minute drive from the cottage. Shopping in Holt or Burnham Market, both of which are within easy driving distance is always pleasurable. A visit to Baker & Larners is always a must as is a wonder around the Burnhams.
South of the village, beside the river Stiffkey, are the remains of an Iron Age fort called Warham Camp, which is one of the best examples of an Iron Age Camp in the whole of England. This makes a great short walk from the cottage or stop-off on your way to the Carpenters Arms at Wighton.
Warham also has a request stop for the Wells and Walsingham Light Railway on which you can enjoy the nostalgia of steam travel. Little Walsingham, one of the most important pilgrimage sites in the world, is just 3 miles away.
In the summer the marsh which is a pleasant 1.5 miles walk from the Cottage. It is alive with nesting waders, such as redshank. Lookout for skylark & hare. In the winter flocks of up to 20,000 pink footed geese can be seen at dawn and dusk along with the ever present Brent geese. Marsh and hen harriers are regular visitors to the marsh. Look carefully and you may see the peregrine falcon.
